1. Installation Instructions

This disk contains the Windows 95 software for Peer-to-Peer
printing. Peer-to-Peer allows Windows 95 workstations to print
directly to the NEC SuperScript 1260 which supports Peer-To-Peer
printing over the network. This software eliminates the need
for a Novell NetWare or Windows NT file server to provide
print services for users. It also eliminates the need for one
user to directly connect the SuperScript 1260 to his/her
machine (via the parallel port) and "share" it.

INSTALLING--
To install Peer-to-Peer on your PC, run the Setup.exe program
on this disk from the Windows 95 Start menu. You must also
install the NEC SuperScript 1260 printer driver before
attempting to print. You may elect to do a Custom Install of
the printer driver, which gives you the option of not
installing the status monitor. The status monitor that is
provided with the NEC SuperScript 1260 printer driver does not
provide printer status when used in conjunction with the
Peer-to-Peer printing software.

CONFIGURING--
After the Peer-to-Peer software and the NEC SuperScript 1260
printer drivers are installed, select Settings > Printers
under the Windows 95 Start Menu. Now select the NEC Super-
Script 1260 printer and the Details tab under the Printer
Properties. The Peer-to-Peer "port" will appear under the
pull-down menu entitled "Print to the following port:" as
your printer's name followed by "(NEC Ethernet Option)".
For example: "NEC_990487 (NEC Ethernet Option)"
Select that port as the default port for your SuperScript 1260.
You are now ready to print to your SuperScript 1260 over the
Peer-to-Peer network.

UNINSTALLING--
To remove the Peer-to-Peer software from your PC, run the
Uninstal.exe program on this disk from your Windows 95 Start
menu.

2. Known Anomalies and Incompatibilities

This software is designed to run on Windows 95 workstations
only. It will not work on workstations running Windows for
Workgroups 3.11.

The status monitor that is provided with the NEC SuperScript
1260 printer driver does not provide printer status when
used in conjunction with the Peer-to-Peer software.
(The status of your NEC SuperScript 1260 Peer-to-Peer
printer can best be provided using TCP/IP and a web browser.)

The "Print Demo Page" and "Print Settings Page" buttons (found
by clicking the "Printer Info" button under the General tab of
the NEC SuperScript status monitor) are disabled while using
the Peer-to-Peer software.
