   Installation Instructions for Windows 95 & 98

Windows 95 Instructions:

These drivers enable sound for your VersaNote Notebook. 
After you install the ESS Maestro-2 Utility, 
you MUST SHUT DOWN YOUR MACHINE then reboot. 
Windows will find the ESS sound hardware the next 
time you restart your computer. Please note if you 
are installing the drivers on your own 
copy of Windows 95 and not on the preinstalled 
Windows 95 that came with your system, you may be 
asked to insert your Windows 95 CD-ROM.  

If you reinstall these drivers on your preinstalled 
Windows 95 system, you will get the following version 
conflict message after you restart your machine:
               
A file being copied is older than the file 
currently on your computer.  It is recommended 
that you keep your existing file.  
	
File name:  vjoy.vxd
Description: Joystick Virtual Device
Your version: 4.5.155
		
Do you want to keep this file?

Please choose 'YES' to keep this file.

Sound should now be enabled on your VersaNote.

Windows 98 Instructions:

These drivers enable sound for your VersaNote Notebook. 
After you install the ESS Maestro-2 Utility, 
you MUST SHUT DOWN YOUR MACHINE then reboot. 
Windows will find the ESS sound hardware the next 
time you restart your computer. Please note if you 
are installing the drivers on your own 
copy of Windows 98 and not on the preinstalled 
Windows 98 that came with your system, you may be 
asked to insert your Windows 98 CD-ROM.  


1. Click the "Next" button to start 
   the installation.

2. Click "OK" at the "Setup Complete" window.

3. Close down all applications, 
   shut down your machine then reboot.

4. When Windows starts you will see the following 
   message window:
     
    "Add New Hardware Wizard"
     This wizard searches for new drivers for:
     
     ESS Device Manager

     Click the 'Next' button.

5. At the 'Add New Hardware Wizard' window, 
   'select' "Search for the best driver for 
   your device(Recommended) then 'click' 
   on the 'Next' button.

6. At the next window, select the 'Next' 
   button so Windows can search for the drivers.

7. At the next window, select the 'Next' 
   button to continue.

8. Click the 'OK' button to complete 
   the installation.

Sound should now be enabled on your VersaNote.
