Installing Windows NT 4.0 drivers
---------------------------------

1 Log on to Windows NT as Administrator, supplying the necessary
    password.

2 Click on the 'Start' button, and then 'Settings' and 'Control
    Panel'.

3 Double-click on the 'Tape Devices' icon.

4 The system will scan for attached tape drives and display a
message saying that a new SCSI device has been found. Click on
'Cancel' to proceed with installing the driver.

5 Click on the 'Drivers' tab, then on the 'Add' button and finally
    on the 'Have Disk' button.

6 Depending on the state of your system, you may be prompted to
enter the path name for the driver. The 'Install Driver' dialog
box will show the tape driver. Select it and click 'OK'.

7 You normally need to re-boot the system, unless the tape driver
is the first tape driver installed on your system. In this case,
the Tape Devices dialog box will display the "driver loaded"
message. Close this window. You should be able to use your new
    tape drive.

Installing Windows 2000/XP/2003 drivers
---------------------------------------

1 Log on to Windows 2000 as Administrator, supplying the
    necessary password.

2 Click on the 'Start' button and then 'Programs',
    'Administrative Tools' and 'Computer Management'.

3 In the left hand pane, select 'System Tools' then 'Device
Manager'. In the right hand pane, double click on the 'Tape
Drives' icon to display the attached tape drives. If the tape
hardware has changed, it may sometimes be necessary to scan for
these changes by right clicking the 'Tape Devices' icon, and
    selecting the 'Scan...' menu item.

4 To replace the current driver right click on the device, select
the 'Properties' menu item and then the 'Drivers' tab.

5 To invoke the 'Driver Wizard', click on the 'Update Drivers'
button and follow the instructions given.

6 You may be prompted to enter the pathname for the driver.
Your tape drive should now be functioning with the new driver.
You will not ordinarily be asked to reboot your computer.

IMPORTANT !!!

HP strongly recommends the use of these drivers,
since they have been developed to support exclusively
HP DAT tape drives.
In all cases first remove the native Windows NT driver or any
previously installed DAT driver, before starting the
installation of the HP DAT driver.
