   	a. UCD-SNMP and UCD-SNMP utility
   	   --R310, G310: NET-SNMP & NET-SNMP utility
   	   --G520: NET-SNMP & NET-SNMP utility
   	   --Others: UCD-SNMP & UCD-SNMP utility
   	b. Pegasus.
   	c. ASM agents.

Installation
============
The ASM Agents use some dedicated ports to communicate with ASM Console. You
have to adjust the firewall settings of the Linux server to make the following
ports accessible.
   UDP/161 (SNMP)
   TCP/5988 (Pegasus CIM Server)
   TCP/5989 (Pegasus CIM Server)
   TCP/4400 (Remote Linux Console Agent)
   UDP/5500 (Remote Linux Console Agent)

You should know the platform type (model name), and go to the right directory
based on the managed server's model name. The remainder of this guide uses
$ROOTDIR$ to refer to the appropriate root directory. For example, if a
managed server's model name is "Altos R310" or "Altos G310", $ROOTDIR$ refers
to "/mnt/cdrom/asm/LinuxAgent/AltosG310_R310".
If a managed server's model name is "Altos G520", $ROOTDIR$ refers to
"/mnt/cdrom/asm/LinuxAgent/AltosG520". If a managed server's model name is
Altos G301, G510, G701, G900, G901, R300 or R701, $ROOTDIR$ refers
to "/mnt/cdrom/asm/LinuxAgent/AltosServer".

Install ASM agents.

Before installing ASM Linux Agents, you should install UCD-SNMP (or NET-SNMP)
and Pegasus package first.

To install UCD-SNMP v4.2.3 (for Red Hat 7.3 and Red Hat 8.0 only)
-----------------------------------------------------------------
1. If you have installed a different version of UCD-SNMP, uninstall it.
To check if UCD-SNMP v4.2.3 is already installed, use the command:
   rpm -qa |grep ucd-snmp-4.2.3-1

To uninstall UCD-SNMP of a different version, use the command:
rpm -e ucd-snmp-* (* is the version number)

When you remove these packages, remove them in such an order that it
eliminates dependency error messages. For example, if a dependency error
message appears, remove the package mentioned in the error message. Continue
removing the dependent packages this way until the error messages stop.

Note: the default installation may be NET-SNMP for Red Hat 8.0. You should
remove it the same way you remove UCD-SNMP.

2. Insert the ASM6 Upgrade CD into the Linux server CD-ROM drive. The CD should
automatically be mounted by the system. If not, you can mount the CD using
   the command:
   mount /mnt/cdrom

Change the working directory to $ROOTDIR$/dependency/, run the following
command to install the UCD-SNMP daemon:
   rpm -i ucd-snmp-4.2.3-1.i386.rpm

Note: for Red Hat V9.0 or later versions, ucd-snmp is not required. But,
you should make sure net-snmp and net-snmp utility packages are installed
before installing ASM Agents. And, you'd better to install these packages
    with original Red Hat CD.

To install Pegasus package
--------------------------
1. Change the working directory to $ROOTDIR$/Pegasus

2. Run the command ./pgpkg install (add EXECUTE mode to this file if necessary)

3. Pegasus will be installed to /usr/local/share/pegasus

4. Configure authentication method
After the installation is finished, you will be prompted to configure if the
user authentication will be required. If it is not, anonymous login will be
allowed, thus anyone can manage this server. If you choose to enable it, you
will be prompted to add users that will be configured as managers.
Noticed that only valid users, e.g. root, of the local system can be added.

Note: These settings can be modified after installation with cimauthconf,
the configuration tool, which is in the folder /usr/local/share/pegasus.
You can get more information on how to use this utility with -h option.

To install the ASM Agents
-------------------------
1. Insert the ASM6 Upgrade CD into your computer's optical drive.

2. Mount the CD-ROM with the command:
   mount /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom

3. Change the working directory to $ROOTDIR$

4. To install the ASM Linux Agents, type in the command:
./asmsetup install (add EXECUTE mode to this file if necessary)
   Follow the prompted installation guide.

5. Unmount the CD-ROM with the command:
   umount /mnt/cdrom

To start or stop the ASM Agents
-------------------------------
1. To start ASM Agents, use the command:
   asmagent start

2. To stop ASM Agents, use the command:
   asmagent stop

Note: The utility, asmagent, has been installed into the hard disk, and can
   be launched in any directory.

Uninstallation
==============
1. To uninstall ASM Agents, use the command:
   asmsetup uninstall

Note: The utility, asmsetup, has been installed into the hard disk, and can
   be launched in any directory.

2. To uninstall Pegasus, use the command:
   pgpkg uninstall

Note: The utility, pgpkg, has been installed into the hard disk and can be
   launched in any directory.

IMPORTANT: Make sure to do uninstallation in the correct order:
uninstall ASM Agents first and then uninstall Pegasus.

Troubleshooting
===============
1. Q: How can I restart ASM Agents.

A: You should first stop ASM Agents with "asmagent stop", then start it with
      "asmagent start"

Note: The utility, asmagent, has been installed into the hard disk and
can be launched in any directory.

You can restart Pegasus CIM server with "/etc/init.d/pegasusd stop" and
      "/etc/init.d/pegasusd start".

You can restart SNMP daemon with "/etc/init.d/snmpd stop" and
      "/etc/init.d/snmpd start".

2. Q: I followed this guide and ASM Agents have been successfully installed and
started, but it seems that the console can not manage it.

A: Firstly, please manually refresh managed server on ASM Console, to
check if functions such as "Availability History" and "System Monitor"
      are shown.
If these functions are still not available, you can try to manually
restart SNMP daemon, then Pegasus CIM server and then ASM agents.
If they are still not available, try to reboot the managed server.

3. Q: I got an error message when I tried to view "Availability History"
      which said "INVALID_NAMESPACE".

A: Make sure you have installed ASM Agents successfully. The correct
installation steps are: install Pegasus CIM server first and then install
      ASM Agents.

4. Q: I have enabled Pegasus authentication, but I don't know how to configure
users. Which users can I add?

A: Only valid users on the local system, e.g. root, can be added.

5. Q: I have added "root" user to Pegasus configuration, but why should I
set its password again? It has been configured during installation of
      Linux.

A: Pegasus only verifies if it is a valid system user, but does not use
the same password set with Linux operating system. So you have to set
the user's password again. The password does not need to be the same as
you set before for the system user.

6. Q: There is an error saying that a dependent package libtcl is not
installed before ASM Agents are installed. What can I do?

A: libtcl is required by ASM Agents, so you have to install it first.
This library can be found in Red Hat Linux installation CD.

7. Q: I have installed ASM Agents successfully and let it get started. But I
can not manage it at all, that is, functions such as System Monitor,
Remote Linux Console did not appear on ASM Console. What is wrong?

A: It is very likely that the firewall settings of the managed server is too
strict. Please check the firewall setting with the "lokkit" utility.
Refer to installation section above for more information.

8. Q: I made a mistake that I didn't uninstall ASM Agents in a correct order.
That is, I uninstalled Pegasus CIM server before uninstalling ASM Agents.
As a result, I could not cleanly uninstall ASM Agents and could not
install ASM Agents again. What can I do?

   A. A utility can help you, asmcleanup, which can be found in in the original
installation CD. You can mount the CD, then change the working directory
to $ROOTDIR$, and then run "./asmcleanup -v" to
verify if ASM Agents have been cleanly uninstalled. If it tells you that
some packages still exist, you can use the command "asmcleanup -f" to
      remove them.
Note: You have to find out the original CD (or another copy of the same
version) which was used to install the ASM Agents.
