	ASM - Advanced Server Manager v@{ASM_VERS}
	Agent for @{OS_VERS}
========================================================================

This README file provides you installation instructions of ASM Agent for SCO UnixWare and some important information to configure and run this software.

*NOTE*	All of the following procedures require the root permission.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
	Installation
------------------------------------------------------------------------
If the ASM installation diskette is already available, go to STEP 2. Otherwise, you have to follow STEP 1 to make the ASM installation diskette from the DD file in the ASM package CD-ROM.

STEP 1.1 Mount the CD-ROM drive. For example, you mount the CD-ROM to /mnt.
	# mount -F cdfs -r /dev/cdrom/* /mnt

STEP 1.2 Insert a formatted empty 1.44MB diskette into your floppy drive and execute command:
	# dd if={PATH}/asm.dd of=/dev/dsk/f03ht
Here, {PATH} denotes the directory under which asm.dd is located.
For example, "/mnt/asm/UnixWare".

STEP 2.	Insert the ASM installation diskette into your floppy drive and execute command:
	# pkgadd -d diskette1 asmipmi
to begin ASM installation.

*NOTE*	STEP 2 can be replaced by executing the SCOAdmin "Application Installer" from the desktop environment.

*NOTE*	The installation process will copy ASM agent package into the /usr/asm directory. The previously installed ASM files, if existed, including the configuration file asmsmuxd.conf, will be overwritten. Besides, the installation will also make necessary modifications to system SNMP configuration files: snmpd.comm and snmpd.peers under /etc/netmgt.

*NOTE*	After the installation is successfully completed, the ASM agent can be manually started by executing command:
	# /usr/asm/asmsmuxd
or it will automatically be started on the next system reboot.

*NOTE*	Before starting ASM Agent asmsmuxd, you should execute asmcfg (ASM Agent Configuration Utility) to configure at least "SNMP", "ASM_Password" and other parameters. Refer to section "Configuration" for detail usage instructions.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
	Configuration
------------------------------------------------------------------------
STEP 1.	To start ASM Agent Configuration Utility, at the shell prompt, execute command:
	# /usr/asm/asmcfg

STEP 2.	Use key <ESC> to move cursor between menu and form region.
When cursor is located in form region, use key <PageUp>/<PageDown> to switch around different form pages. (Each form page contains a group of related configuration parameters.) Use key <Tab> or Arrow keys to move cursor around fields in that form page then setup the values in them.
When cursor is located in menu region, selecting items from the	"Config" pulldown menu can directly jump into the corresponding form pages.

STEP 3.	Select menu "File" -> "Save" to update those modified configuration	parameters back to the ASM configuration file /usr/asm/asmsmuxd.conf.

STEP 4.	Select menu "File" -> "Exit" to quit from ASM Configuration Utility. If any configuration is modified and saved, ASM Configuration Utility will prompt to ask whether to restart ASM agent or not. If select "No", the changed parameters will not become effective until the next ASM agent restart.

The configuration parameters are divided into the following groups:

Config/ASM_Password
-------------------
In this form page the user can:
- Enable or disable the ASM password protection by selecting or unselecting the check mark in the square bracket. If the ASM password protection is enabled, the ASM station will request the user to enter the ASM password each time issuing a SNMP set command. (The default setting is DISABLE.)
- Change the ASM password. A valid password must have a minimum of 3 characters and a maximum of 16 characters. (The default password is a null string.)

Config/Manager_Info
-------------------
This form page contains the system manager's information.

Config/Threshold
----------------
This form page contains the threshold values for some of ASM predefined events.

Config/Event_Actions
--------------------
These form pages contain the parameters controlling the server-side ASM event handling actions.

Config/SNMP
-----------
In this pop-up form, the user can enter the IP addresses of SNMP trap destinations (i.e. those ASM management stations expected to receive SNMP traps). Each IP address entered should be in decimal dot notation, and be typed in one line. The list of IP addresses will be saved to the SNMP configuration file /etc/netmgt/snmpd.trap after choosing the OK button.

*NOTE*	The SNMP trap destination setting will not take effect until next system reboot, or until SNMP daemon in.snmpd is restarted.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
	Uninstallation
------------------------------------------------------------------------
STEP 1.	At the shell prompt, execute command:
	# pkgrm asmipmi

STEP 2.	Enter "Yes" to confirm the removal when prompted.
