Introducing JavaRAID - a Web based Configuration utility

JavaRAID is the utility to efficiently configure, maintain and monitor a large array of disks through Internet. Take a look at some of it's features that make the job of an administrator quite easy.

Features of JavaRAID

Automatic Failed Drive Detection and Rebuild

The JavaRAID firmware automatically detects and rebuilds failed drives. Rebuilds can be done transparently with hot spares.

Drive Roaming

The JavaRAID adapter determines when disk drives have been physically moved from one slot to another, as in a hot swap. The drives must be controlled by the same adapter.

Hot Swap Manual Replacement

JavaRAID supports the manual replacement of a disk module in the RAID subsystem without shutting down the system.

Battery-backed Cache Memory

A battery module provides backup power for the cache in case of a power failure. The battery supports more than 48-hours of retention time of cache data for a standard 4 MB cache memory.

Check Consistency Features

Check Consistency ensures that parity data or mirroring is correct for the selected logical drives.

Alarm Feature

JavaRAID includes an onboard tone generator to sound alarms and warnings. The alarm can be enabled and disabled from the Adapter operations menu.

Degraded to Optimal Logical Drive

A degraded RAID 5, RAID 3 or RAID 1 logical drive can be directly converted to an optimal RAID 0 logical drive.

RAID 5 Logical Drive to RAID 3 Logical Drive and vice versa

A RAID 5 logical drive can be changed to RAID 3, and a RAID 3 logical drive can be changed to RAID 5.

Removal of Physical Drives from Logical Drive

Change the configuration of a logical drive by removing an online physical drive from the configured array of an optimal logical drive. Change an optimal RAID 5, RAID 3 or RAID 1 logical drive to optimal RAID 0. Or change an optimal RAID 5 or RAID 3 logical drive to optimal RAID 1 if the logical drive has just three physical drives.

Additions of Physical Drive(s) into Configured Logical Drive

Change the configuration of an optimal logical drive by adding one or more ready physical drives to it. An optimal RAID 0 logical drive can be converted to optimal RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 3, RAID 5 by adding one or more drives. An optimal RAID 1 logical drive can be converted to optimal RAID 0, RAID 3 or RAID 5. Convert between RAID 3 and RAID 5 by adding more physical drives to the configuration.
