								FIR DRIVER UPDATING FOR WINDOWS98
								=================================

A. With nscirda.INF file remained the same:
-------------------------------------------
	- Copy new nscirda.sys to ~\windows\system

B. With new nscirda.INF:
------------------------
Note that by default Win98 will look for driver files from Win98 CD-ROM first,
even when you select the location of driver as "A:\". So make sure you don't
insert the Win98 CD-ROM in until you really have to.

1. If using Eval board:
	- Write down configuration currently used in Control Panel -> Network ->
	current IR Adapter (NSC-PC338FIR, for instance) -> Properties ->
	Advanced and Resources.
	- Remove Win98 CD-Rom from PC if previously inserted.
	- Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager -> Network Adapter ->
	current IR Adapter -> Remove.
	- Reboot.
	- Control Panel -> System -> Add New Hardware -> "No, device isn't in the
	list" -> "No, I want to select the hardware from a list" -> Network Adapter ->
	Have Disk -> Insert floppy disk with new nscirda.sys and new nscirda.inf in A:\,
	select the proper driver (NSC-PC87108, IBM ThinkPad FIR...), click Next -> When
	prompted to insert Win98 CD-ROM, select OK, but DO NOT insert it in. When got
	message that windows is looking for nscirda.sys, type in location "a:\". This
	will repeat several times until windows start looking for file other than
	nscirda.sys, now insert Win98 CD-ROM in -> Finish -> When prompted to restart
	computer, select No.
	- Copy nscirda.sys from a:\ to ~\windows\system
	- From Control Panel -> Network -> select your IR Adapter -> Properties ->
	Setup Advanced and Resources as previously saved. Select OK.
	- Restart the computer.

2. If using PnP board:
	- Remove Win98 CD-Rom from PC if previously inserted.
	- Copy new nscirda.INF into ~\windows\inf
	- Control Panel -> System -> Device Manager -> Network Adapter -> IR Adapter
	(IrDA v3.0 FIR Port, IBM ThinkPad FIR Port) -> Properties -> Driver -> Update driver ->
	-> Select from a list -> Have Disk -> Insert floppy disk with nscirda.sys and
	nscirda.inf in A:\, select the proper driver (NSC-PC87108, IBM ThinkPad FIR...),
	click Next -> When prompted to insert Win98 CD-ROM, select OK, but DO NOT insert
	it in. When got message that windows is looking for nscirda.sys, type in location
	"a:\". This will repeat several times until windows start looking for file other than
	nscirda.sys, now insert Win98 CD-ROM in -> Finish -> When prompted to restart
	computer, select No.
	- Copy nscirda.sys from a:\ to ~\windows\system
	- Restart the computer.

Verifying that IR driver has been updated:
------------------------------------------
	- Check if Control Panel -> Network -> IR adapter Properties -> Advanced reflexes the
	new nscirda.INF file (for instance, new transceiver list).
	- Check if nscirda.INF file is updated in ~\windows\inf. If not, copy it into ~\
	windows\inf then repeat the update process again.
	- Check if nscirda.SYS file is updated in ~\windows\system. If not, copy it into
	~\windows\system
	- Also, check in Network -> IR Adapter Properties -> Advanced and Resource to see if
	the selections are correct.
