2. Before installing Lucent PnP modem on Windows NT, following requirements
   are unexpendable :

    2.1. Minimum H/W requirements

    	Pentium 120 Mhz.
    	16 MB Ram.

    2.2. S/W requirements

    	Windows NT 4.0 ( Retail Build 1381 )
    	PNPISA.SYS installed.
Driver files for the Lucent Modem.

    2.3. PNPISA.SYS Installation

1). PNPISA.SYS is not installed by default. In general, is can be
installed from the \drvlib\i386\pnpisa.inf on the Windows NT
	    CDROM.

2). An PNPISA.INF file can be installed by selecting the properties
(RIGHT-Clicking) and selecting the install option.

3. Instructions of installing Modem driver:

    3.1. LTMODEM.SYS Installation instructions

1). Access the Ports entry via the Control Panel. If there is any
entry for redundant COM port, then delete it.

	2). Shutdown the PC.

3). Power up the PC. The modem board will be recognized by the NT
PNPISA driver. It will ask to install driver from disk provided
by the hardware manufacturer. Insert the disk containing the
Lucent PNP Modem files. The driver file required is called
	    LTADF.INF.

	    This installation do the following,

	    - Create a COM port.

The resource configuration list will be displayed if 'Set
Configuration Manually' button is clicked. The user will be
allowed to choose the COM port and to change the resources.

	       The following resources are suggested.

		   Modem I/O Address	100-107
		   COM I/O Address	2F8-2FF
		   COM IRQ 3 or 11

If the above resources is conflict with other device, user
can have other choices. One thing very important is that
COM port and its I/O address must meet each other, for
	       example:

		   COM2 uses 2F8-2FF,
		   COM3 uses 3E8-3EF and
		   COM4 uses 2E8-2EF.

Changing to 'Basic configuration 000x' in the combo box of
"Setting based on:" can make the I/O address match the COM
	       port.

Clicking on 'Interrupt Request' in the "Resource settings:"
box and then clicking on 'Change Setting...' button makes
user to adopt another IRQ if the original setting is conflict
	       with other device.

	    - Add a modem.

The user should note down the resource settings selected
for future reference. The user should remove the disk and
reboot the PC when instructed by the PNPISA installer.

4). Click on 'OK' to install the modem driver.

5). Follow the instructions to complete the installation (in order
to make the new setting taken effect, restarting the computer
	    is required).

    3.2. Check out the modem:

1). Click on 'Start' button, 'Programs', 'Administrative Tools
(Common)', 'Windows NT Diagnostics' then select "Resources"
frame, if "ltmodem" can be found in the device list, it means
that the modem has been activated and the driver installation
	    is successful.

2). If there is no "ltmodem" found in the device list, then delete
"LT Win Modem" in the Modem option of the Control Panel.
Repeat the steps described in Section 3.1. and adjust the
	    the resources.

4. TroubleShooting

If the communication package can open the port but you see no response
after that. The Lucent PnP board needs a H/W modification.
