@ Installing Software:

   To install the SCO Unix MDI Device Driver:

   Copying the distribution files
   ------------------------------

   1. Copy the file ALN201.SCO on a SCO Unix machine. 
      
          doscp a:/sco5/aln201.sco . (. denotes current directory)
     
   2. Copy the file to a diskette. To prepare and create a "new" 
      (remove the "old") 3.5 inch floppy in drive 0, use:

          dd if=aln201.sco of=/dev/rfd0135ds18
      
   3. Mark the diskette:
          AcerLAN ALN-201 PCI Ethernet Adapter Driver
          Release Ver:2.10

   4. Put the distribution diskette in the drive.

   5. Run custom. From the menu select:
        << Before SCO Open Server 5.0.4 >>
      Software -> Install New -> From Host -> Media Floppy -> Full

        <<After SCO Open Server 5.0.4>>
      Software -> Install New -> From Host -> Media Floppy -> Install
        You can use the key [TAB] to change the different commands window.

   6. When custom has completed, remove the diskette and quit custom.

   7. Run netconfig. Add the desired chain. The ALN-201 drivers are called:
        "AcerLAN ALN-201 PCI Ethernet Adapter Driver"

   8. After you select "Exit", SCO UNIX will have some queries,
        you should select "Y" in every query.

   9. To activate the adapter, you must "reboot". Using

        reboot <enter>

      When the system boots, you should see the following message
      among the other configuration message :  

      %ethernet   0x2000-0x2200  5     -    addr=00:60:67:xx:xx:xx


  with the appropriate I/O addresses, IRQ, serial media and IEEE address.
